Eldora Fire Department Ice Rescue Traning

Last year the DNR sold 439,531 fishing licensing, Resident and non-Resident. Many of those are also ice fishers, but with the weather warming up the ice on lakes and rivers start to thin, creating a possible life threating situation.

"To make sure you have good ice is you have to watch the weather. That weather is getting up to 50, 60 degrees, that ice is going to melt fast." Jerry Eslick Instructor with Professional Rescue Innovations (PRI) says, "The best thing I can tell you about ice safety is don't go out on the ice"

"We do it (the training) once a year as a refresher." Aaron Clemons, Eldora Fire Chief says, "In the 11 years I've been on I have never responded to an Ice rescue"
